One Year Anniversary!

A lot of things come only once a year: Christmas, Thanksgiving, your birthday. Each of these is a special occasion because of the event that the celebrate, the memories that they hold, and the promises for the future that they bring with them. And today we celebrate a most momentous occasion: the first birthday/anniversary of the Unsheathed blog!

Exactly one year ago, I wrote the first collection of words on my Google+ page that would qualify as my first ever “blog post”. From a short, less than 200 word overview of some of the themes of Anohana to the bricks of text I put together now, it’s been a long and crazy journey to get where I am. God truly has blessed me in many ways, from overseeing the domain provider I’d use to bringing me new friends due to the content of this blog. I’ve always wanted to write, but until I started Unsheathed I had no real outlet into which to pour my passion. My desire always felt amorphous, and it wasn’t until I gave my focus to a specific topic for a specific reason that I found a way to express my desires in a way that satisfied me.

I’m truly thankful for the experience that blogging has given me. The way that my thought processes have changed as a result of writing frequently, the way the blog pushed me further and further into Bible study, and the fun I’ve had just responding to your comments and Twitter posts have made this a gift I cherish greatly. I hope to continue giving you guys great content here at Unsheathed for a long time to come, Lord willing, and I’m grateful for each and every one of you who takes the time to read this blog. There have been a lot of changes: from strictly anime posts to the KPOP posts, from few pictures to lots of pictures, but one thing hasn’t changed: I’m still having fun.

In keeping with the inaugural post of this blog, I decided to do another giveaway! In the comment section below, tell me your favorite type of content here at Unsheathed, and what you’d like to see from me in the future. I’ll be choosing 3 fortunate souls to receive prizes: two will receive Crunchyroll Premium+ Gift Passes, and one person will receive a copy of A Silent Voice Volume 1. I will announce the winners next week!

Once again, I want to thank each and every one of you for taking the time to read Unsheathed. As you have given to me, I hope to continue giving to you.

ありがとう ございますよ!

I haven’t been around your blog nearly as long as you’ve been blogging, but congratulations; from what I can tell you’re doing great!! I like your anime reviews; your perspective on things is new and refreshing, and I like the articles when you evaluate an anime and see what you can learn about it on a spiritual level. So I’d love to see more of that, as well as what you’re learning about God outside of the anime fandom! I’d be excited to see more suggestions, on anything really: anime, books, etc. And I think you should keep writing about kPop 🙂 I’m a bit new to that topic so maybe you could write an article for beginners? Also I’d be interested to hear if you are into jPop as well… Other suggestions for future blog posts include just journally stuff I guess. I love it when people post reviews and stuff but I also love to see what goes on behind the articles (the life of the person who wrote it, etc). Anyway, that was really long, but that’s what I’d like to see. Keep up the good work 🙂

  • Aha! Congrats and happy anniversary to you and Unsheathed, Sam! I know well the things you wrote in here from when and where you started and to where you are now as I have experienced them as well. Although I myself have been in and out of the blog, I still couldn’t get away from my desire to write. However sometimes, the subjects/topics I’d want to write about are taking almost all of my time which causes me a several times to skip the personal devotion. But I am truly glad to know that blogging has also taught you (as it has taught me) to express more of your passion for writing about anime, now Kpop and of course about the Scripture! I hope to get ideas and help from you as I desire the same goals. And I like your take on the different shows that you have reviewed and discussed about. Informative yet casual considering that you’re a believer. And now, with the newly added common interest that we have – Kpop, I’m sure I’d be roaming around your blog more than usual. Cheers to more years of blogging and of becoming friends with you!

Of course I’d also want to win Crunchyroll Premium Gift Pass! Haha. Jaa~
